CVE-2026-53339: i2c: qcom-cci: Fix NULL pointer dereference in cci_remove()
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
i2c: qcom-cci: Fix NULL pointer dereference in cciremove()
On all modern platforms Qualcomm CCI controller provides two I2C masters, and on particular boards only one I2C master may be initialized, and in such cases the device unbinding or driver removal causes a NULL pointer dereference, because ccihalt() is called for all two I2C masters, but a completion is initialized only for the single enabled master:

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are exposed to this issue?
Systems using a modern Qualcomm CCI controller are affected when only one of the controller's two I2C masters is initialized on the board. The listed Ubuntu kernel packages include linux, linux-realtime, linux-azure, linux-gcp, linux-azure-fde, linux-riscv, linux-gke, and linux-aws.
What must occur for the failure to be triggered?
The affected driver must be unbound or removed, such as through removal of the i2c-qcom-cci module. During removal, the driver attempts to halt both I2C masters even though the completion for the disabled master was not initialized.
What is the practical impact?
Triggering the issue causes a kernel NULL pointer dereference in cci_remove(), with the provided trace showing failure while waiting for a completion. This is an availability impact and may disrupt the affected system.
