Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Compensating control

Since Trendnet TEW-657BRM is end-of-life and the vulnerability can be launched remotely via /setup.cgi (function update_pcdb) using argument mac_pc_dba, restrict network access to the device so that /setup.cgi cannot be reached from untrusted networks (e.g., block inbound WAN access to the device at the firewall/ACL and allow only from trusted IPs if management access is required).
