CVE-2026-5934: WP Rocket <= 3.21.0.1 - Unauthenticated Stored Cross-Site Scripting via Picture Source Attributes in rocket_beacon Endpoint

Published Aug 28, 2026
·
Updated

The WP Rocket plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting in versions up to, and including, 3.21.0.1. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of user-supplied data via the rocketbeacon AJAX endpoint. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page.

Remediation

Recommended actions to resolve this vulnerability, in priority order.

  1. Upgrade

Upgrade wordpress/wp-rocket to a version that resolves this vulnerability.

    Fixed in 3.21.0.1
  2. Compensating control

Mitigate unauthenticated exploitation of the WP Rocket rocket_beacon AJAX endpoint by restricting access to the endpoint to trusted users/sessions (e.g., via WAF/rate limiting/ACL, only allow requests from legitimate WordPress users or the site front-end as required).
