CVE-2026-63943: Input: xpad - fix out-of-bounds access for Share button
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
Input: xpad - fix out-of-bounds access for Share button
xpadoneprocesspacket() receives len directly from urb->actuallength and uses it to index the share-button byte at data[len - 18] or data[len - 26]. Since both len and data[0] are under the device's control, a broken controller can send a GIPCMDINPUT packet with actuallength < 18 (e.g. 5 bytes) and reach this code path, causing accesses beyond the actual array.
Fix this by calculating the offset and checking bounds against the packet length.

Frequently Asked Questions
What access does an attacker need to exploit this issue?
The attack vector is local and requires low privileges. Exploitation also requires a controller to provide a crafted GIP_CMD_INPUT packet with a short actual length, such as less than 18 bytes.
What type of device behavior triggers the vulnerable access?
A broken or malicious controller can trigger the issue by sending a GIP_CMD_INPUT packet whose data and actual_length cause the Share-button handling code to index data[len - 18] or data[len - 26] outside the received packet.
What is the impact of a successful trigger?
The vulnerable code can access memory beyond the actual received packet array. The supplied severity vector indicates high confidentiality impact and high availability impact, with no integrity impact.
