Vulnerability in the Oracle VM VirtualBox product of Oracle Virtualization (component: Core). The supported version that is affected is 7.2.14. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with logon to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox executes to compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox. Successful attacks require human interaction from a person other than the attacker and while the vulnerability is in Oracle VM VirtualBox, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of Oracle VM VirtualBox. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 8.6 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). Frequently Asked Questions
Who is exposed to this issue?
Systems running the affected supported Oracle VM VirtualBox version 7.2.14 are exposed when an attacker can log on to the infrastructure where VirtualBox executes. The attacker does not need prior privileges, but exploitation requires interaction by another person.
What level of access and interaction does an attacker need?
The attack vector is local: the attacker needs logon access to the infrastructure hosting Oracle VM VirtualBox. No privileges are required, but a user other than the attacker must perform an interaction for exploitation to succeed.
What is the potential impact of successful exploitation?
Successful exploitation can result in takeover of Oracle VM VirtualBox, with high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact. Because the vulnerability has scope change, the attack may also significantly affect additional products.
