Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which deployments are affected?

SiYuan versions before v3.8.1 are affected. The issue involves block name, alias, and memo values rendered in hints, backlinks, and breadcrumbs.

2

What does an attacker need to exploit this issue?

An attacker needs permission to set a block name, alias, or memo to HTML or script content. A second user must then view a document or interface element that references or displays the malicious block.

3

Are users exposed merely by opening the attacker-controlled block?

The provided information identifies exposure when another user views documents referencing or displaying the block, including through hint, backlink, or breadcrumb rendering. It does not establish that every direct view of the block triggers execution.
