CVE-2026-85492: All in One SEO <= 5.0.1.1 - Reflected DOM-Based Cross-Site Scripting via URL Pathname

Updated

The All in One SEO – AI SEO Plugin to Boost SEO Rankings & Traffic (Schema, Local SEO, Sitemap & SEO Insights) plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to DOM-Based Cross-Site Scripting via URL Pathname in all versions up to, and including, 5.0.1.1 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user visits a crafted URL. Exploitation requires the victim to hold the aioseomanageseo capability and to open the SEO Preview panel in the WordPress admin toolbar while visiting a page with a malicious payload embedded in the URL pathname.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is exposed to this issue?

Sites running All in One SEO version 5.0.1.1 or earlier are affected. Exploitation targets a logged-in WordPress user who has the aioseo_manage_seo capability.

2

What must an attacker do for the payload to execute?

An unauthenticated attacker must get a privileged user to visit a crafted URL containing a malicious pathname payload. The victim must then open the SEO Preview panel from the WordPress admin toolbar while on that page.

3

Is interaction required from the victim?

Yes. The victim must visit the attacker-crafted URL and open the SEO Preview panel; the payload does not execute solely because the crafted URL is requested.
