Frequently Asked Questions
Who is exposed to this issue?
Systems running the affected supported Oracle VM VirtualBox version 7.2.16 are exposed. Exploitation requires an attacker to already have a low-privileged logon on the infrastructure where VirtualBox runs, so it is not remotely exploitable according to the supplied CVSS vector.
What access does an attacker need to exploit it?
The attacker needs local access and low privileges on the host infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox executes. No user interaction is required, and the vulnerability is described as easily exploitable.
What could exploitation allow?
An attacker could cause VirtualBox to hang or repeatedly crash, resulting in a complete denial of service. They could also gain unauthorized ability to update, insert, or delete some data accessible to VirtualBox; confidentiality impact is listed as none.
