CVE-2026-89280: Dokan: AI Powered WooCommerce Multivendor Marketplace Solution <= 5.2.1 - Insecure Direct Object Reference to Authenticated (Custom+) Limited Account Takeover via 'password' Parameter to /wp-json/dokan/v1/customers/{id}
The Dokan: AI Powered WooCommerce Multivendor Marketplace Solution – Build Your Own Amazon, eBay, Etsy plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Insecure Direct Object Reference in all versions up to, and including, 5.2.1 via the 'password' parameter due to missing validation on a user controlled key. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with custom-level access and above, to change the WordPress account password of any customer who has placed at least one order with the attacking vendor, enabling login as that customer and resulting in a limited account takeover. Vendor-level access, required to exploit this vulnerability, can be self-registered through the public 'I am a vendor' registration flow when that option is enabled on the site.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which accounts are at risk of takeover?
Only customer accounts that have placed at least one order with the attacking vendor are described as vulnerable to password changes. The attacker can then log in as the affected customer, resulting in a limited account takeover.
What access does an attacker need?
The attacker must be authenticated with vendor-level access, described as custom-level access or above. If the site enables the public “I am a vendor” registration flow, an attacker may be able to self-register for the required vendor access.
Are sites with public vendor registration exposed to easier exploitation?
Yes. When public vendor registration is enabled, the required vendor-level account can be self-registered, reducing the barrier to obtaining the authenticated access needed for exploitation.
