CVE-2026-96669: Food Store <= 1.5.5 - Unauthenticated Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'service_type' Cookie

Published Oct 29, 2026
·
Updated

The Food Store – Online Food Delivery & Pickup plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'servicetype' Cookie in all versions up to, and including, 1.5.5 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The attack is seeded unauthenticated by supplying a payload via the ?type= query parameter on the public checkout page, which the plugin writes directly into the browser's servicetype cookie; this cookie value is later persisted to order meta and rendered unescaped in the admin panel.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who is exposed to this issue?

WordPress sites using the Food Store – Online Food Delivery & Pickup plugin version 1.5.5 or earlier are affected. The malicious script executes when an administrator views an order whose stored service type value contains the injected payload.

2

What does an attacker need to exploit it?

No authentication or user interaction is required to seed the attack. An attacker supplies a payload through the type query parameter on the public checkout page, causing it to be written to the browser's service_type cookie and later stored with order metadata.

3

How can I determine whether an order may be affected?

Review order metadata for service type values that contain unexpected markup or script-like content. The vulnerable value originates from the service_type cookie after a checkout page request using the type query parameter.
