CVE-2026-97020: PO/MO Editor <= 1.4.2 - Authenticated (Subscriber+) Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'podata' Parameter
The PO/MO Editor plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via the 'podata' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.2 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with subscriber-level access and above, to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The injected payload is loaded as a replacement .po/.mo translation file via the plugin's own loadtextdomainmofile filter, causing WordPress to serve the attacker-written translation in place of the original core strings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which users pose an exploitation risk?
Any authenticated WordPress user with Subscriber-level access or higher can exploit the issue. No user interaction is required from the attacker.
What happens after a successful injection?
The attacker can supply a replacement .po or .mo translation file through the podata parameter. WordPress then serves attacker-written translations in place of original core strings, and the injected script executes when a user accesses an affected page.
