Advisory FAQ
<a name="how-affected"></a>How do I know if I am affected?
If your application uses a package version listed in affected packages, it is exposed to the vulnerability.
<a name="how-fix"></a>How do I fix the issue?
1. Install the latest servicing update for your supported .NET release. If you have installed one or more .NET SDKs through Visual Studio, Visual Studio will prompt you to update Visual Studio, which will also update your .NET SDKs. 2. If your application directly references Microsoft.Native.Quic.MsQuic.Schannel, update the package reference to version 2.5.11-ci.159417053 or later. You can list the .NET versions installed on your system by running the dotnet --info command.
Once you have installed the updated runtime or SDK, restart your applications for the update to take effect.
Additionally, if you have deployed self-contained applications targeting any of the impacted versions, these applications are also vulnerable and must be recompiled and redeployed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which deployments are exposed to remote exploitation?
Windows deployments on any architecture are in scope when affected .NET projects use the Microsoft QUIC HTTP/3 path. The advisory identifies .NET 8.0, .NET 9.0, .NET 10.0, and .NET 11 RC2 on Windows.
Does exploitation require authentication, user interaction, or prior access?
No. A crafted IPv6 QUIC packet can reach the affected HTTP/3 path without authentication or user interaction.
What should developers do to remediate the issue?
Developers should update affected applications to remove the vulnerable package version, following the advisory's package-version guidance. The supplied information does not include the specific patched version.
How can teams determine whether an application may be affected?
Inventory Windows .NET projects for use of the Microsoft.Native.Quic.MsQuic.Schannel package and compare their resolved package version with the affected-version list in the advisory. Also identify applications that expose QUIC or HTTP/3 handling over IPv6.
