Frequently Asked Questions
Who can access information they are not authorized to choose?
A user who has access to the Wagtail admin can view filenames, names, and URLs for documents and images in collections where they have not been granted choose permission. Ordinary site visitors without Wagtail admin access cannot exploit this issue.
What access does an attacker need?
The attacker needs an authenticated Wagtail admin account. No user interaction is required, but the issue exposes metadata and URLs rather than allowing modification or deletion of the affected items.
Which releases contain the fix, and is there a workaround?
Upgrade to Wagtail 7.0.8, 7.3.3, or 7.4.2, as applicable. No workaround is provided.
