Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who should treat this as an incident?

Any computer with the package installed or running should be considered fully compromised. This includes systems where the package may no longer be actively running, because installation may have resulted in additional malicious software.

2

What immediate containment and recovery actions are recommended?

Rotate all secrets and keys stored on the affected computer immediately, using a different computer. Remove the package, but do not assume removal alone eliminates the compromise.

3

Can removing the package be relied on to clean the system?

No. The advisory states that an outside entity may have received full control of the computer, and removing the package does not guarantee that all malicious software introduced during installation is removed.
