Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who can exploit this issue?

An attacker must already have high privileges and network access to the affected MySQL Server or MySQL Cluster instance through one of multiple protocols. No user interaction is required.

2

What is the practical impact of successful exploitation?

Successful exploitation can cause the affected MySQL Server or MySQL Cluster service to hang or crash repeatedly, resulting in a complete denial of service. The provided CVSS vector indicates no confidentiality or integrity impact.

3

Which deployments should be prioritized for remediation?

Prioritize network-reachable instances running affected MySQL Server versions 8.4.0 through 8.4.10 or 9.7.0 through 9.7.1, and affected MySQL Cluster versions 8.0.0 through 8.0.47, 8.4.0 through 8.4.10, or 9.7.0 through 9.7.1. Instances where high-privileged database accounts are broadly accessible present the relevant exposure condition.
