REDHAT-BUG-2520591: Integer Overflow
GIMP SGI File Parsing Integer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability. This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of GIMP. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file.
The specific flaw exists within the parsing of SGI files. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied data, which can result in an integer overflow before writing to memory. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current process. Was ZDI-CAN-29396.

Frequently Asked Questions
What must an attacker do to exploit this issue?
The attacker must persuade a user to visit a malicious page or open a malicious SGI file. Exploitation occurs through GIMP's parsing of attacker-controlled SGI file data.
What level of access could successful exploitation provide?
Successful exploitation can allow arbitrary code execution in the context of the current GIMP process. The resulting privileges depend on the privileges of the user running GIMP.
