SA-CONTRIB-2026-199: Critical severity drupal/inline_entity_form_dialog vulnerability

Published Oct 7, 2026
·
Updated

This module renders entity add/edit forms inside an AJAX dialog for use with entity reference fields. This module relies only on the "access administration pages" permission, without checking whether the current user had create or update access to the entity itself. This vulnerability is mitigated by the fact that an attacker must have a role with the permission "access administration pages".

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who can exploit this issue?

An attacker must have a role granted the "access administration pages" permission. The module does not also verify that the user can create or update the underlying entity.

2

What unauthorized actions could be possible?

A user with access to administration pages may be able to use the AJAX dialog to create or update entities even when they do not have the entity-specific create or update access normally required.

3

Is the issue mitigated for users without administrative-page access?

Yes. Exploitation requires the "access administration pages" permission, so users without that permission are not able to exploit the issue through this module.
