Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which systems should be prioritized for this update?

Systems running the nodejs22 packages from SUSE Web and Scripting Module 15-SP7 should be prioritized. The affected package set includes nodejs22, npm22, and associated development, documentation, debug, and debugsource packages across aarch64, ppc64le, s390x, and x86_64.

2

Which issue has the most severe stated impact?

CVE-2026-111497 is described as a Node.js Brotli decoder out-of-bounds write that permits remote code execution. The advisory does not state the specific application conditions required to reach the vulnerable decoder.

3

Are TLS hostname and certificate-validation behaviors affected?

Yes. The update fixes a TLS certificate hostname bypass when a host loosely resolves to an IP address, and improper certificate validation for non-canonical IPv4 hostnames that can allow DNS SANs to authenticate IP endpoints.

4

What Node.js version does this update provide?

The update includes Node.js 22.23.4. It also includes dependency updates such as OpenSSL 3.5.9, c-ares 1.34.9, SQLite 3.53.4, timezone data 2026e, and undici 6.29.1.
