UBUNTU-CVE-2024-49882: High severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: ext4: fix double brelse() the buffer of the extents path In ext4exttrytomergeup(), set path[1].pbh to NULL after it has been released, otherwise it may be released twice. Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages should be reviewed?
The affected software list includes ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-aws, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, and ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips.
What level of access does an attacker need?
The CVSS vector indicates local access, low privileges, low attack complexity, and no user interaction. It also indicates attack requirements are present, but the supplied data does not specify those conditions.
What is the expected security impact if exploitation succeeds?
The CVSS vector rates confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact as high for the vulnerable component. It indicates no impact on subsequent systems.
Does the provided information identify a workaround or confirm whether default configurations are affected?
No. The supplied data identifies the ext4 kernel issue and affected package families, but does not provide a workaround, fixed version, or default-configuration assessment.
