Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel package families are tracked as affected?
The affected software list includes ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-aws, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, and their listed FIPS variants: linux-fips, linux-aws-fips, linux-azure-fips, and linux-gcp-fips.
What level of access does exploitation require?
The supplied vector indicates local access with low privileges and no user interaction. It does not indicate network-based exploitation.
What is the expected security impact?
The supplied severity vector indicates high availability impact, with no confidentiality or integrity impact. The failure is a NULL pointer dereference that can cause a kernel crash.
Which systems are most relevant to triage?
Systems using the AMD DRM/amdgpu driver and invoking the ATIF ACPI method are the relevant population. The issue depends on firmware returning malformed data for that method and has been encountered on at least one system.
