UBUNTU-CVE-2024-50127: Use After Free
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: sched: fix use-after-free in tapriochange() In 'tapriochange()', 'admin' pointer may become dangling due to sched switch / removal caused by 'advancesched()', and critical section protected by 'q->currententrylock' is too small to prevent from such a scenario (which causes use-after-free detected by KASAN). Fix this by prefer 'rcureplacepointer()' over 'rcuassignpointer()' to update 'admin' immediately before an attempt to schedule freeing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are most exposed to this issue?
The issue affects the listed Ubuntu kernel packages when the taprio network scheduler is in use. The provided information does not identify whether taprio is enabled by default.
What access does an attacker need?
Exploitation requires local access and low privileges, with no user interaction required. The attack complexity is rated high and the vector indicates additional attack requirements are present.
What could successful exploitation impact?
The vulnerability is a use-after-free condition in taprio_change() caused by a schedule switch or removal. The supplied severity vector rates confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact as high for the vulnerable system.
