UBUNTU-CVE-2024-56643: Medium severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dccp: Fix memory leak in dccpfeatchangerecv If dccpfeatpushconfirm() fails after new value for SP feature was accepted without reconciliation ('entry == NULL' branch), memory allocated for that value with dccpfeatclonespval() is never freed. Frequently Asked Questions
What level of access does an attacker need?
The CVSS vector indicates local access with low privileges is required. Exploitation is rated low complexity and does not require user interaction.
What is the primary security impact?
The issue can affect availability through a kernel memory leak. The supplied CVSS vector indicates no confidentiality or integrity impact.
How can administrators look for evidence of this issue?
A kernel memory leak detector may report an unreferenced object allocated through kmemdup, with a stack including dccp_feat_clone_sp_val, dccp_feat_change_recv, dccp_feat_parse_options, and dccp_rcv_state_process.
Which Ubuntu kernel package families are identified?
The affected software list includes ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-aws, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp, and ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips.
