UBUNTU-CVE-2026-100070: Medium severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: netfilter: nfnatsip: rewind offset when NAT shrinks the packet sashiko says: If mapaddr() changes the packet length, such as when the public NAT IP string is shorter or longer than the internal IP, coff will still point to the offset relative to the pre-mangled packet. If the packet shrinks, coff could overshoot the correct position, potentially causing the next ctsipparseheaderuri() call to silently skip bytes and miss subsequent Contact headers. Could this lead to a failure to NAT those subsequent headers and leak internal network details?

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu deployments are potentially affected?
The affected software list includes Ubuntu linux, linux-fips, linux-aws, linux-azure, linux-gcp, linux-aws-fips, linux-azure-fips, and linux-gcp-fips kernel packages. The issue is relevant where SIP NAT handling is in use.
What condition causes the parsing problem?
The problem can occur when NAT address mapping changes the packet length because the public NAT IP string is shorter or longer than the internal IP string. When the packet shrinks, the saved offset can point beyond the correct post-mangling position.
What is the potential impact on SIP traffic?
Subsequent Contact headers may be skipped and not NATed. This could expose internal network details in those headers.
