Frequently Asked Questions
What level of access is needed to exploit this issue?
The CVSS vector indicates local access with low privileges is required. No user interaction is required.
Which Ubuntu kernel package variants are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-gke, and ubuntu/linux-gkeop.
What system behavior is involved in the issue?
A RTM_GETNEIGH netlink request can return uninitialized data in padding bytes of ndmsg data. The fix zero-initializes netlink data in link, address, and neighbor response messages.
What impact is indicated by the supplied severity data?
The issue is rated medium with a CVSS score of 5.5. The supplied vector indicates no confidentiality or integrity impact and a high availability impact.
