UBUNTU-CVE-2026-52937: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: tap: fix stack info leak in tapioctl() SIOCGIFHWADDR In the SIOCGIFHWADDR path, tapioctl() copies 16 bytes of an uninitialised on-stack struct sockaddrstorage to userspace via ifrhwaddr, but netifgetmacaddress() only writes safamily and dev->addrlen (6 for Ethernet) bytes, leaving sadata[6..13] uninitialised. Those 8 trailing bytes leak kernel stack contents; SIOCGIFHWADDR on a macvtap chardev returns kernel .text and direct-map pointers, defeating KASLR. Initialise ss at declaration.

Initialize the on-stack struct sockaddr_storage variable ss at declaration in tap_ioctl() so all bytes copied through ifr_hwaddr are initialized.
