UBUNTU-CVE-2026-64454: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: dwc3: run gadget disconnect from sleepable suspend context dwc3gadgetsuspend() takes dwc->lock with IRQs disabled and then calls dwc3disconnectgadget(). For async callbacks that helper only uses plain spinunlock()/spinlock(), so the gadget ->disconnect() callback still runs with IRQs disabled and any sleepable callback trips Lockdep. This issue was found by our static analysis tool and then manually reviewed against the current tree. The grounded PoC kept the dwc3gadgetsuspend() -> dwc3disconnectgadget() -> gadgetdriver->disconnect() chain, and Lockdep reported: BUG: sleeping function called from invalid context gadgetdisconnect+0x21/0x39 [vulnmsv] dwc3gadgetsuspend.constprop.0+0x2b/0x42 [vulnmsv] Keep the disconnect callback selection in one common helper, but add a sleepable suspend-side wrapper which snapshots the callback under dwc->lock and then runs it after spinunlockirqrestore(). The regular event path still uses the existing spinunlock()/spinlock() window.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are exposed to this issue?
Systems using the affected Ubuntu Linux kernel packages are relevant, including ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, ubuntu/linux-riscv, and ubuntu/linux-gkeop. The vulnerable path involves the DWC3 USB gadget suspend flow.
What condition triggers the problem?
The issue occurs when dwc3_gadget_suspend() invokes the gadget driver's disconnect callback while interrupts remain disabled. A disconnect callback that can sleep triggers a Lockdep invalid-context warning.
What does the fix change?
The fix snapshots the disconnect callback while holding dwc->lock, releases the lock and restores interrupt state, then runs the callback from a sleepable suspend-side context. The normal event path retains its existing lock-release window.
