UBUNTU-CVE-2026-64493: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: iio: pressure: mpl115: fix runtime PM leak on read error mpl115readraw() takes a runtime PM reference with pmruntimegetsync() before reading the processed pressure or raw temperature, but on the read error path it returns without calling pmruntimeputautosuspend(). Each failed read therefore leaks a runtime PM reference and prevents the device from autosuspending. Drop the reference before checking the return value so both the success and error paths are balanced.

In mpl115_read_raw(), drop the runtime PM reference with pm_runtime_put_autosuspend() before checking the return value, so both successful and failed reads balance the pm_runtime_get_sync() reference and allow autosuspend.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are exposed to this issue?
The issue affects the listed Ubuntu kernel packages when the MPL115 pressure driver is in use. The affected packages are ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, and ubuntu/linux-gkeop.
What condition triggers the problem?
It is triggered when mpl115_read_raw() obtains a runtime PM reference and the subsequent pressure or temperature read fails. On that error path, the runtime PM reference is not released.
What is the practical impact of repeated failures?
Each failed read leaks a runtime PM reference. As references accumulate, the device is prevented from autosuspending.
