UBUNTU-CVE-2026-64537: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: bridge: cfm: reject invalid CCM interval at configuration time ccmtxworkexpired() re-arms itself via queuedelayedwork() using the configured expinterval converted by intervaltous(). When expinterval is BRCFMCCMINTERVALNONE or out of range, intervaltous() returns 0, causing the worker to fire immediately in a tight loop that allocates skbs until OOM. Fix this by validating expinterval at configuration time: - Constrain IFLABRIDGECFMCCCONFIGEXPINTERVAL to the valid range [BRCFMCCMINTERVAL33MS, BRCFMCCMINTERVAL10MIN] in the netlink policy so userspace cannot set an invalid value. - Reject starting CCM TX in brcfmccccmtx() when expinterval has not yet been configured (defaults to 0 from kzalloc).

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are practically exposed to this issue?
Systems using Linux bridge CFM and CCM transmission are exposed when CCM TX can be started with an invalid or unconfigured expiration interval. The listed Ubuntu Linux kernel variants are affected products.
What access is needed to trigger the resource exhaustion?
The condition is triggered through bridge CFM CCM configuration and CCM TX startup. A user or process must be able to supply an invalid expiration interval or start CCM TX before an expiration interval has been configured.
How can I identify a potentially affected configuration?
Check whether CCM TX is enabled while the expiration interval is unset, or whether the configured expiration interval is outside the valid range from BR_CFM_CCM_INTERVAL_3_3_MS through BR_CFM_CCM_INTERVAL_10_MIN. These states can cause immediate worker rearming and repeated skb allocation until out-of-memory conditions occur.
