UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68106: High severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/amdgpu: fix division by zero with invalid uvd dimensions When width or height is less than 16, widthinmb or heightinmb becomes 0, leading to fsinmb being 0. This causes a division by zero when calculating numdpbbuffer in H264 and H264 Perf decode paths. Add validation to reject frames with width < 16 or height < 16 before performing any calculations that depend on these values. V2: Format change - move up all vaiable definitions. V3: Use warnonce to avoid spam. (cherry picked from commit 3e41d26c70b0a459d041cc19482a226c4b7423cb)

Frequently Asked Questions
What systems are exposed to this issue?
The issue affects the listed Ubuntu kernel packages, including linux, linux-fips, linux-aws, linux-azure, linux-gcp, and their listed FIPS variants. Exposure requires use of the AMDGPU driver and H.264 or H.264 performance decode paths processing frames with invalid dimensions.
What does an attacker need to trigger the vulnerability?
An attacker needs local access with low privileges, as reflected by the CVSS vector. They would need to cause the affected AMDGPU decode path to process an H.264 frame whose width or height is less than 16 pixels.
What is the impact of successful exploitation?
The invalid frame dimensions can cause a division by zero in the AMDGPU H.264 decode paths. The supplied severity vector rates confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact as high.
How can I determine whether the issue is present in my environment?
Check whether the system is running one of the listed Ubuntu kernel package variants and uses AMDGPU H.264 decoding. Systems that process H.264 content with dimensions below 16 pixels through those decode paths are relevant to this flaw.
What mitigation is available if an update cannot be applied immediately?
Avoid processing H.264 frames with a width or height below 16 pixels through the affected AMDGPU decode paths. The resolved code rejects such frames before calculations that could divide by zero.
