UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68135: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-azure vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net: hip04: fix RX buffer leak on buildskb failure When buildskb() fails in hip04rxpoll(), the driver jumps to the refill path without releasing the current RX buffer and its DMA mapping. Installing a replacement buffer then overwrites the slot references and leaks both resources. Keep the current slot intact and return budget so NAPI retries the same buffer. Also free a newly allocated RX fragment when dmamapsingle() fails. This issue was found by an in-house static analysis tool.

In the hip04 RX path, when build_skb() fails, keep the current RX slot intact and return the NAPI budget so the same buffer is retried; also free any newly allocated RX fragment when dma_map_single() fails.
Event History
Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions are required to trigger the leak?
The affected hip04 network driver must encounter a build_skb() failure while processing received packets in hip04_rx_poll(). A separate leak can occur when allocation of a new RX fragment succeeds but dma_map_single() then fails.
What happens when the issue is triggered?
The driver can leak the current receive buffer and its DMA mapping after build_skb() fails, because replacing the buffer overwrites the slot references. It can also leak a newly allocated RX fragment following a dma_map_single() failure.
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips, and ubuntu/linux-oracle.
