UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68210: High severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: media: stm32: dcmi: unregister notifier on probe failure dcmigraphinit() registers the async notifier before dcmiprobe() toggles the reset line. If resetcontrolassert() or resetcontroldeassert() fails afterwards, probe returns through errcleanup and the driver core will not call dcmiremove(). Unregister the notifier before cleaning it up on that error path, matching the successful remove path and the V4L2 async notifier lifetime rules. [hverkuil: added Fixes tag]

Frequently Asked Questions
What systems are realistically exposed to this issue?
The affected software list includes Ubuntu kernel packages such as linux, linux-azure, linux-gcp, linux-aws-fips, linux-fips, linux-realtime, and related FIPS variants. Exposure requires use of the STM32 DCMI media driver.
What condition triggers the vulnerable error path?
The issue occurs when the driver has registered its V4L2 asynchronous notifier and then reset_control_assert() or reset_control_deassert() fails during probe. The failed probe path cleans up the notifier without first unregistering it.
What can be done if an update cannot be applied immediately?
The provided data identifies the STM32 DCMI driver as the affected component. Systems that do not use that driver are not on the described probe path.
