UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68263: Use After Free

Published Aug 10, 2026
·
Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/imagination: Fix double call to drmschedentityfini() Call sequence of double call: pvrcontextdestroy   pvrcontextkillqueues     pvrqueuekill       drmschedentitydestroy         drmschedentityfini // here   pvrcontextput     krefput(..., pvrcontextrelease)       pvrcontextdestroyqueues         pvrqueuedestroy           drmschedentityfini // here Call to drmschedentitydestroy() from pvrcontextkillqueues() calls drmschedentityflush() + drmschedentityfini(). drmschedentityflush() ensures all pending jobs are completed and drmschedentityfini() ensures no further submission is allowed as per expectation from pvrcontextkillqueues(). Double call to drmschedentityfini() is misuse of the API so keep call only in pvrcontextcreate() failure path. Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which Ubuntu kernel packages are in scope?

The affected software list includes ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, and ubuntu/linux-gkeop. The issue is in the DRM Imagination driver path.

2

What access would an attacker need?

The supplied vector indicates local access and low privileges are required, with no user interaction required. The affected call path involves PVR context and queue destruction, so exposure is tied to use of the Imagination DRM driver.

3

What signs could indicate the issue has been triggered?

The reported failure includes a "refcount_t: underflow; use-after-free" warning from refcount_warn_saturate, occurring during DRM scheduler entity cleanup. The described condition is a double call to drm_sched_entity_fini() during queue and context teardown.
