UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68355: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability

Published Aug 10, 2026
·
Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: wifi: ath11k: fix potential buffer underflow in ath11khalrxmsdulistget() When the first entry in msdudetails has a zero buffer address, the code accesses msdudetails[i - 1] with i == 0, causing a buffer underflow. Fix similarly to ath12kwifi7halrxmsdulistget() by adding a separate check for i == 0 before the main condition to prevent the out-of-bounds access. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

In ath11k_hal_rx_msdu_list_get(), add a separate check for i == 0 before the main condition so msdu_details[i - 1] is not accessed when the first entry has a zero buffer address; implement the fix similarly to ath12k_wifi7_hal_rx_msdu_list_get().

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Which systems are potentially exposed?

Systems running an affected Ubuntu kernel package are potentially exposed if they use ath11k Wi-Fi hardware and exercise the vulnerable receive-path handling. The listed package families include linux, linux-realtime, linux-azure, linux-gcp, linux-azure-fde, linux-gke, linux-riscv, and linux-gkeop.

2

What condition triggers the out-of-bounds access?

The issue occurs when the first entry in the msdu_details array has a zero buffer address. In that case, the affected code can access msdu_details[i - 1] while i is zero, resulting in a buffer underflow.

3

How can I determine whether the fix is present?

Check whether the installed Ubuntu kernel package includes the upstream stable commit 7f11e70629650ff6ea140984e5ce188b775b2683. The fix adds a distinct check for i equal to zero before evaluating the condition that previously allowed the invalid array access.
