UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68365: Medium severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: USB: serial: ioedgeport: cap received transmit credits The interrupt-status packet reports transmit credits returned by the device. edgeinterruptcallback() adds the 16-bit value to txCredits without checking maxTxCredits. edgewrite() uses txCredits minus the software FIFO count as the amount of data that fits. Since the FIFO is allocated with maxTxCredits bytes, txCredits exceeding maxTxCredits can cause OOB write in ring buffer. Cap accumulated credits at maxTxCredits. Conforming devices should never hit the cap.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel package families are listed as affected?
The listed package families are ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-aws, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp, and ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips.
What condition is required to trigger the out-of-bounds write?
The system must use the io_edgeport USB serial driver and receive interrupt-status packets that cause accumulated transmit credits to exceed maxTxCredits. The available information notes that conforming devices should not reach this condition.
