UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68371: High severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: musb: omap2430: Do not put borrowed ofnode in probe omap2430probe() stores pdev->dev.ofnode in a local np variable. This is a borrowed pointer and the probe function does not take a reference to it. The success and error paths nevertheless call ofnodeput(np). This drops a reference that is owned by the platform device, and can leave pdev->dev.ofnode with an unbalanced reference count. Do not put the borrowed platform device node from omap2430probe(). References taken for the child MUSB device are handled by the device core, and the ctrl-module phandle reference is still released separately.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are exposed to this issue?
The affected Ubuntu kernel package families listed are linux-riscv, linux-realtime, linux-azure, linux-gcp, linux-azure-fde, linux-gke, linux-hwe-edge, and linux-gkeop. The issue is in the OMAP2430 MUSB USB driver probe path.
What does successful exploitation require?
The provided vector indicates local access is required, while no privileges or user interaction are required. The vulnerability can affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
What is the underlying failure condition?
The driver releases a borrowed platform-device device-tree node with of_node_put() even though it did not acquire a reference. This can unbalance the reference count of pdev->dev.of_node.
