Frequently Asked Questions
What condition triggers the vulnerable error path?
The error path is reached when nl80211_parse_beacon() processes EMA RNR data containing fewer RNR entries than MBSSID entries. The parser rejects that mismatch.
What is the impact of the flaw?
The rejected RNR allocation was not yet attached to the beacon data and was not freed before the function returned an error. This results in a memory leak on that rejection path.
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are identified as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, and ubuntu/linux-gkeop.
