UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68422: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: btrfs: fix root leak if its reloc root is unexpected in mergerelocroots() If we have an unexpected relocroot for our root, we jump to the out label but never drop the reference we obtained for root, resulting in a leak. Add a missing btrfsputroot() call.

Frequently Asked Questions
What systems are in scope for this issue?
The issue is listed for Ubuntu kernel packages including linux, linux-realtime, linux-azure, linux-gcp, linux-azure-fde, linux-gke, linux-riscv, and linux-gkeop.
What condition triggers the leak?
The leak occurs when btrfs merge_reloc_roots() encounters an unexpected relocation root for a root. In that path, a reference obtained for the root was not released.
What is the impact of successful triggering?
The described impact is a kernel-side root reference leak. The provided information does not describe privilege requirements, remote reachability, or a direct crash or code-execution outcome.
