UBUNTU-CVE-2026-68466: High severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mtd: rawnand: lpc32xxslc: fail DMA transfer on completion timeout lpc32xxxmitdma() waits for the DMA completion callback but ignores waitforcompletiontimeout(). A timed out DMA transfer is therefore unmapped and reported as successful to the NAND read/write path. Return -ETIMEDOUT when the completion wait expires. Terminate the DMA channel before unmapping the scatterlist so the timed out transfer cannot continue to access the buffer after the error is returned.

In the Linux kernel mtd: rawnand: lpc32xx_slc DMA path, return -ETIMEDOUT when wait_for_completion_timeout() expires, and terminate the DMA channel before unmapping the scatterlist so the timed-out transfer cannot continue accessing the buffer.
Event History
Frequently Asked Questions
What conditions are required to trigger this issue?
The affected code path requires a DMA transfer using the LPC32xx SLC raw NAND controller driver to time out. The vulnerability occurs when the driver ignores the completion timeout and treats the NAND DMA operation as successful.
What can happen after a DMA timeout?
A timed-out DMA transfer can be unmapped and reported as successful to the NAND read/write path. Because the DMA channel was not terminated before unmapping, it may continue accessing the buffer after the error condition.
What does the fix change?
The fix returns -ETIMEDOUT when the DMA completion wait expires. It also terminates the DMA channel before unmapping the scatterlist, preventing a timed-out transfer from continuing to access the buffer.
