UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72088: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: scsi: hpsa: Fix DMA mapping leak on IOACCEL2 reset path If physdisk->inreset is set, the function returns directly without undoing the resources acquired for the command. Add the missing error cleanup by unmapping the IOACCEL2 SG chain block when needed, unmapping the SCSI command, and dropping the outstanding IOACCEL command count before returning.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are exposed to this issue?
The issue affects Ubuntu systems using the listed Linux kernel packages and the hpsa SCSI driver. Systems without hardware or configurations that use the hpsa driver are not indicated by the provided data as exposed.
What condition triggers the resource leak?
The leak occurs on the IOACCEL2 reset path when phys_disk->in_reset is set. In that condition, the driver previously returned without unmapping DMA resources or decrementing the outstanding IOACCEL command count.
What is the operational impact of the flaw?
Affected reset handling can leave DMA mappings and IOACCEL command accounting resources unreleased. The provided information does not specify whether an external attacker can trigger this condition or what availability impact may result.
