UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72102: High severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmearlycreate: fix freeing used table on dmresume failure If dmresume fails, the kernel attempts to free table with dmtabledestroy, but the table was already instantiated with dmswaptable. This commit skips the call to dmtabledestroy in this case.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can exploit this issue?
Exploitation requires local access and low privileges. No user interaction is required, and the impact is rated high for confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
What condition triggers the vulnerable path?
The issue is triggered when dm_resume fails after a device-mapper table has already been instantiated through dm_swap_table. The subsequent attempt to destroy that table can free a table that is already in use.
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips, and ubuntu/linux-realtime.
