UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72147: Null Pointer Dereference
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dmaengine: dw-edma-pcie: Reject devices without driver data dwedmapcieprobe() treats the PCI device ID driverdata as the template for the controller layout and copies it unconditionally. A device bound dynamically via sysfs can match the driver without that data, which leads to a NULL pointer dereference. Reject such matches before enabling the device.

Frequently Asked Questions
What condition is required to trigger the NULL pointer dereference?
A PCI device must be dynamically bound through sysfs so that it matches the dw-edma-pcie driver without providing the PCI device ID driver_data that the probe routine expects.
Which systems are most relevant to triage?
Systems running one of the listed Ubuntu kernel packages are relevant if they use the dw-edma-pcie driver and permit dynamic sysfs binding of a device to that driver. The vulnerable path is reached before the device is enabled.
