UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72216: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: remoteproc: qcom: Fix leak when custom dumpsegments addition fails Free allocated minidumpregion 'name' in qcomaddminidumpsegments() when failing before adding the region to 'dumpsegments'. Otherwise, the 'name' is not tracked and is never freed by qcomminidumpcleanup(). Return error when adding to 'dumpsegments' fails.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are in scope?
The affected software list includes ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, ubuntu/linux-riscv, and ubuntu/linux-gkeop. No affected or fixed version information is provided.
When does the memory leak occur?
The leak occurs when qcom_add_minidump_segments() allocates a minidump_region name and then fails before the region is added to dump_segments. In that path, the name is not tracked by qcom_minidump_cleanup() and is not freed.
What does the resolution change in the failure path?
The fix frees the allocated minidump_region name when custom dump-segment addition fails before the region is tracked. It also returns an error if adding the region to dump_segments fails.
