UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72243: Medium severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: selinux: check connect-related permissions on TCP Fast Open Similar to Landlock, SELinux was not updated when TCP Fast Open support was introduced to ensure connect-related permissions are checked when using TCP Fast Open. Update its socketsendmsg() hook to call selinuxsocketconnect() when MSGFASTOPEN is passed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is realistically exposed to this issue?
Systems running one of the listed Ubuntu kernel packages are relevant if SELinux is in use and local processes can use TCP Fast Open. Exploitation requires a local attacker with existing low-privileged access.
What does an attacker need to do to exploit it?
The attacker needs to send data using TCP Fast Open with the MSG_FASTOPEN flag. In the affected behavior, SELinux connect-related permission checks are not performed for that path.
Does this affect ordinary TCP connections?
The described gap is specific to TCP Fast Open connections using MSG_FASTOPEN. The provided information does not indicate that non-Fast-Open TCP connection paths bypass the same checks.
What can be done if the kernel update cannot be applied immediately?
Restrict untrusted local users and processes from using TCP Fast Open where feasible, since exploitation requires local privileges and use of MSG_FASTOPEN. The supplied data does not provide a specific configuration workaround.
