UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72305: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: VDUSE: avoid leaking information to userspace The bounceing is not necessarily page aligned, so current VDUSE can leak kernel information through mapping bounce pages to userspace. Allocate bounce pages with GFPZERO to avoid leaking information to userspace.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-gkeop, and ubuntu/linux.
What condition causes the information disclosure?
VDUSE bounce allocations are not necessarily page-aligned. Mapping those bounce pages to userspace can therefore expose kernel information unless the pages are zero-initialized.
What change resolves the issue?
The resolved implementation allocates VDUSE bounce pages with __GFP_ZERO, ensuring the pages are cleared before they can be mapped to userspace.
