UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72308: Medium severity ubuntu/linux-azure vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: mlxsw: fix refcount leak in mlxswspportlagjoin() When mlxswspportlagindexget() fails, mlxswspportlagjoin() returns an error without releasing the lag reference obtained by the earlier mlxswsplagget(). All other error paths in the function jump to the cleanup label that ends with mlxswsplagput(), so this is a single missed release. Fix the leak by replacing the bare 'return err' with a goto to the existing error cleanup label, which will drop the reference safely.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed for this issue?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-azure-fips, ubuntu/linux-aws-fips, ubuntu/linux-fips, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-gcp-fips, and ubuntu/linux-oracle.
What condition triggers the leaked reference?
The leak occurs when mlxsw_sp_port_lag_index_get() fails after mlxsw_sp_lag_get() has already obtained a LAG reference. That error path previously returned directly instead of reaching the cleanup that releases the reference.
What does the fix change?
The fix routes the failing error path to the existing cleanup label. That cleanup calls mlxsw_sp_lag_put() to safely drop the previously acquired reference.
