UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72327: Null Pointer Dereference
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/v3d: Reject invalid indirect BO handle in indirect CSD setup v3dgetcpuindirectcsdparams() looks up the indirect buffer object from a userspace-supplied handle but never checks the result. A bogus or stale handle makes drmgemobjectlookup() return NULL, which is then stored in info->indirect and only dereferenced later when the indirect CSD job runs, turning a userspace mistake into a NULL pointer dereference in the kernel. Bail out with -ENOENT as soon as the lookup fails, so the bad handle is rejected at submission time.

In v3d_get_cpu_indirect_csd_params(), check the result of drm_gem_object_lookup() and bail out with -ENOENT when the userspace-supplied indirect buffer object handle is invalid, instead of storing NULL in info->indirect.
Linux kernel drm/v3d indirect BO handle lookup failure handling = -ENOENT

Frequently Asked Questions
What must an attacker be able to do to trigger this issue?
They must be able to submit an indirect CSD job to the V3D DRM driver with a bogus or stale indirect buffer-object handle. The vulnerable path accepts the userspace-supplied handle and later dereferences a NULL object when the job runs.
What is the likely impact of exploitation?
A malformed handle can cause a NULL pointer dereference in the kernel. The provided information supports a denial-of-service or kernel crash impact; it does not state that code execution or privilege escalation is possible.
Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?
The listed packages are ubuntu/linux-riscv, ubuntu/linux-realtime, ubuntu/linux-azure, ubuntu/linux-gcp, ubuntu/linux-azure-fde, ubuntu/linux-gke, ubuntu/linux-hwe-edge, and ubuntu/linux-gkeop.
How does the fix change handling of invalid handles?
The fix checks the result of the buffer-object lookup during indirect CSD setup. If the handle cannot be resolved, submission fails immediately with -ENOENT instead of allowing a later kernel NULL dereference.
