UBUNTU-CVE-2026-72374: High severity ubuntu/linux-azure vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: afs: Fix callback service message parsers to pass through -EAGAIN The AFS filesystem client uses an rxrpc server to listen for callback notifications. Each callback call type handler has a delivery function that parses the incoming request stream, and this should return -EAGAIN the last packet hasn't yet been seen, but all currently queued received data is consumed. afsextractdata() does this, but the -EAGAIN return is switched to 0 inadvertantly Fix callback service message parsers to pass through -EAGAIN

Frequently Asked Questions
Which systems are exposed to this issue?
The issue applies to the listed Ubuntu Linux kernel packages, including linux, linux-azure, linux-aws-fips, linux-azure-fips, linux-fips, linux-gcp-fips, linux-gcp, and linux-oracle. Exposure specifically involves use of the AFS filesystem client and its RxRPC callback service.
Does exploitation require credentials or user interaction?
No. The supplied severity vector indicates network reachability, low attack complexity, no privileges required, and no user interaction.
What is the primary security impact?
The supplied severity vector indicates a high availability impact, with no confidentiality or integrity impact. The affected callback message parsing can mishandle incomplete request streams by converting -EAGAIN to success.
