Published Aug 15, 2026
·
Updated

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: octeontx2-af: Validate NIX maximum LFs correctly NIX maximum number of LFs can be set via devlink command but that can be done before assigning any LFs to a PF/VF. The condition used to check whether any LFs are assigned is incorrect. This patch fixes that condition.

Frequently Asked Questions

1

Who can exploit this issue?

An attacker needs local access and low-level privileges. The affected code concerns NIX logical-function limits managed through a devlink command, so exposure is tied to systems using the relevant OcteonTX2 AF functionality.

2

What action triggers the vulnerable condition?

The issue involves setting the NIX maximum number of logical functions through devlink before any logical functions have been assigned to a PF or VF. The validation intended to detect existing LF assignments used an incorrect condition.

3

Which Ubuntu kernel packages are listed as affected?

The listed packages are linux-riscv, linux-realtime, linux-azure, linux-gcp, linux-azure-fde, linux-gke, linux-hwe-edge, and linux-gkeop.
