UBUNTU-CVE-2026-74290: Medium severity ubuntu/linux vulnerability
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: net/sched: clsflow: Dont expose folded kernel pointers The flow classifier falls back to addrfold() for fields that are missing from packet headers. In map mode, userspace controls mask, xor, rshift, addend and divisor, and can observe the resulting classid through class statistics. This allows a tc classifier in a user/network namespace to recover the 32-bit folded value of skb->sk, skbdst() or skbnfct(). Align with standard kernel practices for pointer hashing and replace the XOR folding with a keyed siphash (which is cryptographically secure)

Replace the XOR folding used by addr_fold() with a cryptographically secure keyed siphash to prevent exposing folded kernel pointers.
Linux kernel net/sched cls_flow addr_fold pointer hashing = keyed siphash

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can exploit this issue?
An attacker needs the ability to configure a traffic-control flow classifier in a user or network namespace. The issue is locally exploitable and requires low privileges; no user interaction is required.
What information can be exposed?
In map mode, attacker-controlled classifier parameters and observable class statistics can be used to recover a 32-bit folded value derived from skb->sk, skb_dst(), or skb_nfct(). This is an information-disclosure issue with low confidentiality impact.
Are systems using network namespaces relevant?
Yes. The affected classifier can be configured from a user or network namespace, so systems that permit untrusted users or workloads to create and control such namespaces are particularly relevant.
What should be done if patching is not immediately possible?
Restrict untrusted users and workloads from configuring tc flow classifiers, particularly in map mode, and limit their ability to create or control user and network namespaces.
