UBUNTU-CVE-2026-74417: Integer Overflow
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: drm/radeon: fix integer overflow in radeonalignpitch() radeonalignpitch() has the same kind of overflow issue as the old amdgpu helper: both the alignment round-up add and the final 'aligned cpp' calculation can overflow signed int. If that wraps, radeonmodedumbcreate() can end up returning an invalid pitch or creating a zero-sized dumb buffer. Fix this by using checkaddoverflow() for the alignment round-up and checkmuloverflow() for the final pitch calculation, returning 0 on overflow. Also reject zero pitch and size in radeonmodedumbcreate(). Found via AST-based call-graph analysis using sqry.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is realistically exposed to this issue?
Systems running one of the listed Ubuntu kernel packages are in scope, including standard, AWS, Azure, GCP, and FIPS variants. Exploitation requires local access with low privileges.
What does an attacker need to trigger the flaw?
The attacker needs to reach the Radeon DRM dumb-buffer creation path and supply values that cause pitch alignment or bytes-per-pixel calculations to overflow signed integers. No user interaction is required.
What is the impact of a successful trigger?
An integer wrap can cause the driver to return an invalid pitch or create a zero-sized dumb buffer. The vector rates availability impact as high and integrity impact as low, with no confidentiality impact.
How does the fix prevent the issue?
The fix checks for overflow during alignment rounding and final pitch multiplication, returning zero when overflow occurs. It also rejects zero pitch and zero size in the dumb-buffer creation path.
